Thanks for stopping by The Hellroaring Review – and since we exist in Montana, Welcome to Montana! We are currently reviewing submissions for the Spring 2013 edition.
What do we publish? THR publishes short fiction. Beyond the few parameters listed in our guidelines, we are simply looking for good stories, well written. We publish across a variety of genres and to include stories specifically spiritual or religious in their focus as well as others not at all so. But a word to those who would submit religiously informed pieces — they need to be good. And good does not mean being preachy or didactic. Our editorial perspective on these matters is: if Christianity (in particular) or theism (in general) is true, then those who hold such views and write fiction ought to be writing the best, the most visceral, the most engaging fiction on the planet. At the very least, it ought to be clear they are striving to do so. It does not mean telling us what you believe, or why, much less why seven billion other people ought to believe as you do. Broadly speaking, these points tend more to describe what most religiously-informed fiction currently is, and that ought not be the case. Your work need not be overtly religious or spiritual. Tell us a good story, tell it well, and we will be happy to give it full consideration.
